A major Mumbai terminal’s commitment to reduce CO2 equivalent emissions by more than 15,000 tonnes annually marks a big step towards Sustainable Logistics. The latest switch of the terminal to 80% renewable electricity provides a significant advancement in its transition to becoming a powered container terminal for Green Energy Logistics. It establishes a new standard for sustainable practices in supply chain management in the global maritime sector, along with boosting energy efficiency.
The terminal has made a commitment to be fully net zero by 2040, and to reduce its scope 1 and 2 emissions by 65 percent by 2030. This strategic initiative is projected to significantly cut down pollution aligning with their vision of making all their terminals green in the next two years.
Atal Setu: Transformative Sea-Link Connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai:
The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu (Atal Setu) spans 21.8 kilometres in total, featuring a 16.5-kilometer sea-link bridge equipped with six lanes. This Rs 17,840 crore infrastructure project connects South Mumbai to Navi Mumbai, drastically reducing travel time. The bridge provides efficient connectivity to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport and streamlines travel between Mumbai and Pune, as well as between the Mumbai Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port.
